Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 40 - 02 May 2020

AM & PM
So the lie in’s only lasted one day, we where up and downstairs by 6:30. It was long morning of playing and den or as Zack called it a tunnel building. I managed to get out for a cycle just before the rain came and the after lunch got Zack in the buggy for a walk while he slept. The afternoon was pretty sunny so we made the most of it and got out on Zacks red bike, played football in the garden and got his bubbles out. The bubbles are always a fun thing, Zack insists he can do it and then manages one or two bubbles before poring all the bubble mix out and then asks for more.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 39 - 01 May 2020

AM & PM
We’ve had a few lazy mornings over the week, but we’ve still be up relatively early, mostly down to Zack being up. Today however we all had a lie in, it was almost 8am before we’d gotten up and got downstairs. We got our for a walk pretty soon after breakfast but didn’t make it very far before Zack wanted to go home. Back at home and we got the cars and track out which we all enjoyed playing with. After lunch it was back out for a good walk this time, we took the buggy as we didn’t quite know if he’d want a sleep or not today, seeing as we’d gotten up later than usual. We had a nice walk and then a good run around the field. Then as it got time to head back, Zack did have a short power nap, just enough to get him though the day. We played some more at home and then after tea we headed out for one final short walk just to make sure he was definitely tired.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 38 - 30 April 2020

AM & PM
Another lazy morning, though it wasn’t meant to be we had planned that Zack and I would go on the bike while Vikki did her run. However Zack decided he didn’t want to go so we stayed at home and played, while Vikki ran. After she got back and showered, they when off for a walk and by the time they got back he was fast asleep in the buggy. Once he was up we had a bit of a play inside before all heading off for a little walk, though Zack chose to bring his red bike rather than walk. It was nice to get out however we timed it badly, just as we got in sight of the coop the heavens opened. It didn’t last long as by the time we’d gotten our bits it had stopped and brightened up again. We walked back at a leisurely (Zack’s) pace.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 37 - 29 April 2020

AM & PM
Well we’ve been spoilt and lucky to have great weather for most of this lockdown, definitely made the days easier. Today however was pretty miserable, we did get out for a little play in the garden but most of the morning we spent playing with the cars and tractors, while dipping in and out of Paddington 2. After Zacks sleep, the rain was torrential so I thought I’d try my had at some home schooling. I thought I’d start with a subject I’m pretty confident in and Zack seemed interested in. He grasped the basics but his framing and needs a little work on. It did eventually brighten up so before tea we did get out on the tractor in the garden.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 36 - 28 April 2020

AM & PM
I don’t know if it was the weather or the fact we’re into week six and although it’s gone quite fast it also feels like it’s been a lot longer. But none of us could be bothered today, so much so that when the delivery guy brought our mattress topper, Zack was not only disappointed it wasn’t a new toy but then wanted to come and try it out he just didn’t realise it was for sleeping on not under, he did look rather cosy tucked under it with his headphones on watching TV. After his sleep, we spend the afternoon very much like the morning, not really doing much and playing a little bit with his toys. Eventually, we did get out for a walk even though it was raining. We needed a few essentials so decided to walk to the new Coop that’s opened, it’s something we’ve needed nearby for a while but the fact it was the highlight of the day summed up how we all felt. Though Zack did find a few muddy puddles to jump in so the day wasn’t a total write off.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 35 - 27 April 2020

AM & PM
The last day of week 5, since going into lockdown. It started like pretty much the last thirty four, up breakfast, Vikki went to work and Zack and I just played inside for a bit. He was itching to get outside with his blue ball, so as soon as it got to an acceptable time we got dressed and walk down the field with him carrying the ball all the way, apart from the step part of the path where I had to carry the ball so he could hold my hand. On route we did stop several times to look at various birds and squirrels. One particular squirrel caught his attention for a while as it kept making some sort of noise which Zack thought sounded like it was kissing another squirrel. When we finally got to the field, we had a good run and kick around with the ball and didn’t head home till lunch time. After which he had a little nap and dad did a few jobs around the house, then once he was up we did go for a little walk just up and down our street but mostly we spend the afternoon playing in the garden. With the blue ball but also on the slide, with his BBQ / Oven, pirate ship and sand.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 34 - 26 April 2020

AM & PM
The weather wasn’t forecast to be nice this afternoon so we took advantage of the sunny morning and got out and walked down to the field with the football for a kick around. Zack’s not quite got the hang of football or more sharing “his ball”. We’re only allowed to touch it when he kicks it then asks us to run and fetch it, like we’re his dogs. We had lunch in the garden again, just as we finished up our neighbour passed a little present over the fence for Zack. A new blue football, which was very kind and Zack loved it. Though it didn’t do much to help him with sharing, so much so that he even had a nap on the sofa holding it, just so mum and dad didn’t have a play while he slept. The afternoon we spent more at home in the garden and on a little grassed area part way down the street. With the new football of course and we did manage to get a couple of little kicks with it. As it started to rain slightly we headed home, as it turned out it never really got that heavy but we just played inside and in the garden. Mum did homemade Nando’s chicken with wedges for tea, which was delicious. After it was the home stretch and count down for bath and bed.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 33 - 25 April 2020

AM & PM
Saturday, though everyday is a Saturday at the moment. We started the day off pretty lazy, mostly due to Zack sleeping in which meant mum and dad could too. Once we all got dressed we did a family 5k, Zack and I on the bike and mum did a run / jog. After we had a mini picnic in the garden, falafel wraps with chilli cheese, sausage rolls and a few crisps. Followed by a little bit of cake and strawberries. There was no nap today, but mum and Zack went for an explore while dad painted the fence, during that time the new paddling / swimming pool arrived. Another mum purchase where she didn’t look at the size, anyway once they got back and dad showered it was time to inflate and fill it. This was the rest of the day sorted and as zack had no nap it meant an early night and a movie for mum and dad.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 32 - 24 April 2020

AM & PM
What a day today has been, possibly the longest and hardest. Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning and it wasn’t Vikki or me. The AM picture pretty much sums up this morning. Zack didn’t want to do anything, go outside, play with any of his toys or even watch tv. I wasn’t allowed to touch anything and had to sit on the sofa, while he sat reading amongst all the toys and bits I’d tried and failed to spark some interest. I was just counting down till nap time and hope the afternoon would be some what better. Even the sleep was a slight challenge, tantrum at the suggestion of going in the buggy, car and evening his bed for a sleep. He just wanted to watch tv but two minutes later he was fast asleep, pace at last...for 30 minutes. The afternoon was slightly better after an hour from waking up, we got out for a walk, run and a play. A couple of near tantrums while I made tea and then almost one more after at the thought of no ice cream, luckily I’d seen a tip on Facebook about freezing a yogurt with a stick in to be a ice cream of sorts, saved by social media!

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 31 - 23 April 2020

AM & PM
We had another lazy start to the day and then when I thought we’d best get dressed Zack decided he wanted a mind morning snack of another pancake, honey and raspberries. He also decided he wanted a slice of my toast which was actually my breakfast. Once we did get out in the garden and set off on a little walk, it was quickly cut short by the sight of the Amazon man bringing Zack’s new toy. He was rather excited once he saw it, we then spend the rest of the morning giving Dad a full medical...thankfully I passed. A nap didn’t look to be on the cards today but surprisingly he did have one and even asked for it. Mum got the early finish which was nice and home just for Zack waking up, the afternoon was mostly spend in the garden and just a short walk from out house to little patch of grass with a small playground that is currently closed, I think Zack is starting to miss the swings and slides now.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 30 - 22 April 2020

AM & PM
A little bit of a lazy morning for Zack and I, we just played inside till about 10 o’clock. Once we eventually got showered and dressed we ventured outside for our daily walk. Zack took charge of the route, with his hat & wellies on he got his hiking stick and marched off with me just following. After a quick power nap, he was up and ready to play again a bit of light running and jumping inside before going out with the football. His bike made a rare appearance outside, hopefully now he’s gained a bit of confidence on it, he’ll continue to bring it out.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 29 - 21 April 2020

AM & PM
Nearly a month in lockdown, in someways it’s gone fast and in others feels like it’s been forever. With that said, Vikki and I do our far share around the house so I felt it was time Zack pulled his weight and did some honest work. His first chore, to sweep up all the crumbs he makes. I did allow him a couple of minutes to enjoy the morning sun on his face. After he’d finished all his chores, he was allowed to play with some toys. It seemed to work as he was tired by the time we got to bath time, just managing to prop himself up on the poof amongst all the mess he’s left for dad to tidy up.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 28 - 20 April 2020

AM & PM
All the days seem to blur into one now. Eat, play, sleep and repeat, seems to be the general daily routine...for everyone I’m sure. I’m not entirely sure who Zack thinks he is but he’s clearly very chilled and relaxed. Much of the same for us once we both got dressed and he’s loving his new room. When we’re inside we quite often go up to play, once we exhausted a lot of the toys downstairs and dads tired of being a human climbing frame / swing.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 26 - 18 April 2020

AM & PM
Started the day with a bit of a difference, with a Dalgona Coffee a South Korean trend. This was after a nice lie in, a rarity in our house. We mostly played inside as the weather wasn’t great, though we did squeeze in a quick kick around before the rain got too heavy. The afternoon was a little better so we got out and had a little walk.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 25 - 17 April 2020

AM & PM
Another day of eating...not me, Zack. Half of mummy’s toast, cereal and a weetabix. Then the best part of a mango for mid morning snack. We had a pretty lazy morning inside playing and got out for a walk later on and Zack in the buggy for a sleep. On our walk we got a new football so once he woke up we got in the garden for a good kick around, during half time Zack finished the rest of the mango and I prepped tea. After we’d eaten we had a chilled time, watched some Paddington Bear and the day ended where the day started.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 24 - 16 April 2020

AM & PM
So this seems to have become heavily focused on Zack and documenting our days together. And today is no exception, He started the day a with a mammoth breakfast, Cheerios followed by a pancake with blueberries, followed by a Weetabix and more blueberries then all washed down with a coffee (froffy milk). Which was just as well as we got out early for some exploring, he had his backpack of essentials and we spent the best part of the morning out. We got home for some lunch and well deserved nap and then had a slightly more chilled afternoon out on his bike and then finished the day off with a fresh lick of paint on the fence, all still with the backpack on and under the watchful eye of dad.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 23 - 15 April 2020

AM & PM
With Vikki back to work today after the Easter weekend, it was back to being me and Zack. Another fun day in the sun with surprise present from his nana, we spent a lot of the day outside. However when it came to his nap the car was the only method that worked. The afternoon was much of the same but we did manage a short bike ride looking for ducks.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 22 - 14 April 2020

AM & PM
Busy day washing both cars, however he novelty of the hosepipe didn’t last long so was mostly mum doing the washing...dad did help a bit once I’d gotten my pictures. The rest of the day we spent as usual inside and out, both Vikki and I did a few bits to get Zacks new room all ready as some of his stuff came today...enough that meant he can have his first night in his big boys room. Plus we got some toys cleared from the living room and now into his room. He was very excited by the whole thing.
