Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 100 - 01 July 2020

AM & PM
Well we’ve reached day one hundred. We’re still in a lockdown of sorts, but a lot of things have been relaxed since the start of it. With that in mind and now Zack’s back in nursery, I’ve decided to end the lockdown diary / post / blog, making today my final post. I’ve used all two hundred photos and merged them together to create this one photo of Zack. It’s been fun doing these photos and it’s been lovely to spend so much time with Zack. I’ve never been off work for this long and home as much, so there is some positives to all this. Hopefully it won’t to too much longer for everything to go back to form of normality.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 99 - 30 June 2020

AM & PM
One of the children’s programme Zack watches has a pirate that fires water melons from his canon. Even though we’ve seen it a hundred time’s, this last week he’s been going on about melons. So in the shopping Vikki ordered a water melon, I think if he might have had once before when we went on holiday but he’ll have been six months old then. He seemed to like it and ate a good portion of it. With no real plan for the day and the weather looking like it could go either way, we decided to get ready and head to Crosby Beach. I got Zack and ready while Vikki did us a picnic, she then got ready and off we went. It rained off and on during the drive over but thankfully when we got there it’d stopped, though it wasn’t warm. Getting togged up, grabbed his bucket and spade then headed off to the beach. Zack spent a while digging and making sand castles, then getting us to knock them down. After a while of this we walked a bit further down the beach, seeing the statues and then went for a little paddle in the sea. We carried on down the beach and stopped on some steps and Zack played with his little tipper truck. As it was cold we headed back to the car for our picnic, thinking Zack might like to sit and eat in the boot we got it all ready, however he had a strop and wanted to sit in his car seat. Once we’d finished eating we headed home, before we got home we nipped into town. We had a couple of letters to post and also needed a couple of bits we’d not got in the shopping. Zack also bought himself a monster truck with the last bit of his pocket money grandad had given him. The rest of the day we just played at home, Vikki and Zack went out for a walk while I waited for the plumber. Only Vikki could use a device to unblock the drain and block the drain with it, thankfully it wasn’t to hard to fix. Then it was just the bath and bed routine.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 98 - 29 June 2020

AM & PM
Well it was Zack’s first (half) day back at nursery today. It all seem to go well, we’d been talking about it for a while to him and he seemed excited this morning going. When I dropped him he was a little hesitant about going in, the staff said he was a little quiet at first but soon got back to his usual self. After I’d dropped him, I spent the morning looking and applying for part time / temporary jobs, just something to tie me over until filming is back up and running. The morning soon went by and before I knew it, it was time to go pick him up. I got him just after his lunch but before his sleep but he fell asleep pretty much as we set off home. Once he was awake, we did attempt to get outside but as it was wet and windy someone got cold so he soon wanted to go home. We then spent the rest of the afternoon just inside, playing, running, jumping and climbing. We did stop now and then to watch a bit of tv and while I sorted tea I left him to watch something. Nursery obviously tired him out as after we’d done his bath and come back down he just sat on Vikki’s knee while watching In the night garden and was a asleep not long after I’d finished reading his book.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 97 - 28 June 2020

AM & PM
Little bit of a hectic morning, Vikki got a bite on her hand the other day when we went to Delamere and seems to have got infected as her hand is all swollen. So after debating for a while what to do, she set off to the minor injuries department at the hospital. Zack and I stayed at home doing a mixture of playing and watching Bing. Despite having breakfast and then seconds by 10am he was asking for lunch, I managed to get him to 10:30am before doing him a jacket potato and beans. Vikki arrived back home and we set off to Grandma and Grampy’s house, stopping on route to get Vikki’s antibiotics. Zack fell asleep on the way, which was as we knew he’d be running around and hopefully tire himself out. It was probably partly due to just waking up and that we’d not been to there house for so long, that it took Zack a while ten minutes rather than five, to treat the flat like his own house and start running a round and bossing us about. Grampy and I used the old cot mattress and a few pillows to make him a slide in the spare room. It was lovely to see them, we all chatted and took it in turns to run around and play with Zack. He’d already managed to eat three oranges and then while Grampy started the prep for tea then wanted to eat the carrots. The weather had been pretty much rain with strong winds since we’d arrived but it did seem to stop raining for a while so with about half an hour till tea, Vikki, Grandma and Zack got out for a walk. Grampy had made lasagne for tea and Grandma made a trifle but as I don’t eat it she’d gotten me a chocolate cake. They got back just as it was time to sit down for tea, it was all delicious. Once we’d all finished, Zack had a final play before we got in the car to head home for bath. We’re not really sure why as nothing bad has happened, but for some reason he never wants a bath anywhere but home. So we got our bits together, said goodbye and set off. Being slightly later than usual, we did him a quick bath, then his milk and finally up to bed with a book.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 96 - 27 June 2020

AM & PM
After the usual morning routine of getting up, breakfast and getting dressed. Vikki and Zack headed over to his nana’s, while I went to meet @mfergo31 at the driving range. Originally we’d planned a BBQ at ours but with the weather being horrid and having spent a lot of the last two days at home, we though a change of scenery would be nice. It’d be about six months since I’d last played golf in any capacity, so it was good to go and surprising I wasn’t as bad as I thought. After we’d finished I headed to Susan’s and arrived just in time for bacon and sausage sandwiches, which Zack then followed with a mini magnum ice cream. The weather was a bit up and down so Zack played inside, getting out for the few dry spells. For his nap we took him in the car, partly as it was bouncing down at this point but also to get some fuel. Once he was awake, he again played inside and got out when the rain stopped. Eventually as it seem to have stopped for a while and also brightened up a little, Vikki, Susan and Zack headed out for a walk. I stayed behind to sort the blocked drain pipe out for her. They all arrived back for tea time, fish pie and vegetables, followed by chocolate log, two of my favourite things. After we’d all eaten, we chatted and Zack played for a little bit longer before we got our stuff together and headed home for bath and bed. Once he was all settled Vikki and I sat down to watch a film, something that has become a Saturday night tradition during lockdown, but I’m sure it won’t end once this does.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 95 - 26 June 2020

AM & PM
Well the sun certainly disappeared, it was still warm but very humid and rain most of the morning. Zack and I had a bit of a lazy one morning, while Vikki nipped to the shop. Using the pocket money Grandad gave him in the week, she got him a the toy lawnmower he’d seen the other day and also a little magnet fishing game. As we had lunch it looked to be brightening up outside, it had stopped raining so we got in the car for Zack’s nap and headed to Delamere Forest. Typically he fell asleep just as we’d pretty much got there so we just sat in the car for half an hour before we woke him and set off walking. They’re doing some building work near the car park and it’s full of diggers and tipper trucks so we spent a good while having a look at those. Eventually we got going and headed into the woods making our way to the Gruffalo, stopping every now and then to play and splash in the puddles. Once we reached the Gruffalo, a few other children had there picture taken with it and Zack reluctantly waited until they’d finished. We then carried along the path heading back to the car park. As the cafe is open before heading home we all got an ice cream. Back at home, Zack played in the garden and inside while I tried to cool down and Vikki made tea. Afterwards it was just the usual trying to wind him down before bath and then coming down for milk, then up for book and bed.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 94 - 25 June 2020

AM & PM
Well another absolute scorching day, definitely a pool sort of day. Since we’d been out all day yesterday, we just decided to have a day at home in the garden. I got the grass cut before blowing up the paddling pool and then Zack helped me fill it. Once it was all full, Zack was straight in. And this is how we spent the entire day, occasionally we’d come inside for a bit of a cool down as even with the brolly up in for shade it was still hot. It was also our first non nap day for a while, so we carried on playing, going between the pool and inside. By the time it got to tea time, he was definitely getting tired but we made it through and he ate something. We went up for an early bath, that way when we came back down if he fall asleep or was ready to go to bed it was all ready. We let him play a little more than usual when he came down, as it was a lot earlier than usual. He made it pretty much the time we’d normally go up for teeth brushing and book but it didn’t take him long to fall asleep, once he was in bed.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 93 - 24 June 2020

AM & PM
It’s been a hot day today, even at 8am you could feel the heat. Nice day for a picnic, luckily for us that’s what we had planned. A trip over to see Grandad and Granny, it’s what we’d originally planned for last week but because of the forecast we rearranged for today, which also meant Vikki could now come. Zack has been awake quite early, which worked out well as it meant he’d be ready for a sleep on the drive over and could have slightly longer. We arrived at Shibden Hall, with Grandad not that far behind us. We found a nice shaded bench and set up our picnic, when we’d finished and all pleasantly full we had a walk and headed up the hill towards the house. We stopped about half way up and took shelter in the shadow of the trees, we sat, chatted and played for while. Grandad showing Zack how to roll down the hill, Zack just likes running down it and then getting one of us to chase him, which we took in turns. There was then a ride on lawnmower coming past and cutting the grass at the top of the hill, so we all walked up with Zack to have a look. After a while and before we all passed out in the heat, we walked back down through the wooded area down to the cafe for an ice cream. We again found a shaded area by some trees and all enjoyed our ice creams. However Zack wanted Vikki’s Colippo so she swapped with him, but as she doesn’t like chocolate ice cream I swapped my salted caramel with her. He did then swab back with Vikki and he tried some of the the chocolate one I now had. We played for a while longer here, before it was time to head home. I don’t know if it was the heat, chasing Zack or both but I think by the end of the day we were all shattered. Zack had his tea not long after we got home, Vikki and I had ours once he was in bed.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 92 - 23 June 2020

AM & PM
Quite a while before lockdown we took Zack to get his feet measured. They told us though his feet had grown it wasn’t enough for the next size shoe, but it would likely only be another few weeks until he did need them, so taking there advice we left it for now. Fast forward to now and his shoes have been too small for a good month if not longer, thankfully with it being mostly hot he’s been in his crocks. So with the shops being open and him going back to nursery next week, Vikki took him to get his feet measured and some new shoes and sandals. I took the opportunity to get out and decided to go for a walk / hike in the Peak District, to place called Lud’s Church. It’s a great walk along the river, then up into the woods and about half way is a deep chasm, which is the church. I need to read up on why it’s called Lud’s Church. It isn’t until your at the exit route out that you realise how deep it really is, you get a top view looking down as you exit and make your way back to the path. I made my way along the path through the woods and eventually got back to the little bridge over the steam. I headed back up taking a slightly different route back to the car. I headed home and not long after I’d been back, Vikki and Zack arrived after going to Marbury Park. Vikki started tea and Zack showed me his new shoes and then the monster truck Vikki got him for being well behaved. I then got chanced as I’d also got a outdoor PT session booked, I’m not quite sure why I chose to do a five mile hike on the same day. By the time I got back I was also too shattered to eat. I had a quick shower and then had my tea. All that was left to do was put Zack to bed and then relax.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 91 - 22 June 2020

AM & PM
Copying what Vikki had done yesterday afternoon I built Zack a den on the sofa, we spent most of the morning playing in it. He did get a little too rough at times and it fell down and so it did get quite a few re-builds. As it started to get closer to midday he asked to go outside on his tractor, before some how falling off and getting in such a mood that even me coming near him made it worse. This was a clear sign of him being tired, so I suggested we go out in the buggy or the car but this only made it worse. So I just left him laid on the floor, after a five minutes or so I went to have a look at him as he’d been very quiet and still for all that time. To my slight surprise he was fast asleep, I picked him up and put him on the sofa. When he woke up he had some lunch and then we got out, still wanting to go on the tractor we just stayed local as I knew at some point I’d be carrying the tractor. We sadly missed the ice cream van and I’d even taken cash out incase we saw it, it seemed to always be on the opposite street to us and then have gone by the time we got there. We headed home and Zack we went in the garden for a while before coming in to watch The Rescuers. By the time Vikki got home from worked we’d both had tea and Zack went back in the garden for a little bit. He then wanted to go upstairs, it was a little early for bath but Vikki took him up and they played for a while in his room until it was time for bath. He was a little naughty when he came down for his milk, not really winding down and trying to get his toys out. Again he seemed tired, so we went back upstairs to do his teeth and then just put him to bed. He did shout down to ask if we where ok, but it wasn’t long before he’d dropped off to sleep.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 90 - 21 June 2020

AM & PM
What a lovely fathers days it’s been, firstly I got a nice lie in, followed by breakfast in bed with some great pressies and card. Once I got up, we all got ready and headed out for the day. We decided to go to Walton Hall, another place near by that we’ve not been to, if nothing else this lockdown has shown us how many great places are just on our door step. We parked up and walked in, they’d set a one way system for going in and out. The downside was that on the way in you passed the playground, which was all closed. Zack walk around looking through the fence telling us how he’d go down the slide, then on the swings and through the tunnel. As we walk further in, we came to the children’s zoo gate, something else that was also closed but you could see a few of the animals the main one in view being a chicken. It wasn’t long before Zack spotted the ice cream van, we headed over to investigate and hoped they took card as we only had enough cash for one ice cream. Luckily for Vikki and Zack the did take card, it was as Zack started to get ice cream all over his face we realised we’d not brought the wipes from the car, so while they finished off I nipped back to get them. When I got back we started to have a walk around, we came to the pond you could see loads of fish right at the surface and in the far corner some turtles. We stopped on a bench near by for a drink and Zack to have a bit of lunch, afterwards we got him in the buggy for a sleep. While we pushed Zack we had a walk around some of the gardens and once he was asleep sat on another bench. Once he woke up, we carried on having a little walk around but it soon started to rain, so we headed back to the car and headed home. Zack was happy to play in the garden and Vikki treated us to tea from a restaurant doing take out. They had a lamb roast while I enjoyed the Daddy Burger, I was glad I didn’t have lunch as not only was it delicious but also huge. Once we’d all finished, Zack just played outside and then inside before heading up for bath. I cleared up and got his milk read and afterwards it was up for his book.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 89 - 20 June 2020

AM & PM
After a not too early start, we headed over to Zack’s nana’s. On arriving, it didn’t take him long to ask for a biscuit, but doing one better than that she had Barny for him, a bear shaped cake with a soft chocolate centre. He quickly polished it off, though just before he’d quite finished spotting the Cadbury Swiss Roll Vikki was about to have he ran over grabbed it out of her hand and began eating it before we could even say anything. As the weather at that point was a bit off an on we chatted inside while he played. It was bacon and sausage sandwiches for lunch, then Vikki got him out in the buggy for a nap while it looked to be brightening up. By the time he’d woke up, it had really become quite hot and sunny, so we moved back out into the garden and again chatting while he played. Occasionally he’d want to go around to the front, either for a wonder up and down the street or to play with his trucks and diggers in the gravel, we took it in turns to go with him. When it came time to leave, Zack didn’t want go. Seeing as he’d been playing really nicely and us not needed to be back for anything we decided to stay a little longer and do his tea there, Vikki and I had ours planned for when he was in bed anyway. Once he’d eaten and had another bit of a play, we got our bits together and headed home and it was pretty much straight up for bath when we did get back. He came down after for his little snack and milk, he really tried his luck with get his toys out, I think the realisation of not playing with them all day had kicked it. It was then up to brush his teeth and do his books.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 88 - 19 June 2020

AM & PM
Another wet and miserable day, but unlike yesterday Zack and I did get out. Wrapping him up in his full waterproof suit and wellies, and me going fifty fifty with just my trainers, shorts and waterproof jacket, we were off. It wasn’t actually to heavy the rain at this point but because it had been there were plenty of puddles for Zack to jump in. We walked up the the common, around past a building site to see the digger, then back around and home, splashing in just about every puddle along the way. He was looking pretty tried when we got back so, I got his lunch ready and once he’d finished we got out for a drive in the car. Once he fell asleep, which didn’t take long I quickly nipped to the shop and then head home and transferred him to the sofa. He was a lazy when it came to waking him up, three time’s I had to wake him as he kept trying to go back. When he was finally up and about we played inside for a while before getting wrapped up and heading out, this time on the tractor and there was no rain. We did a few laps of the estate before coming, just in time before the heavens opened. He played while I made tea and because Vikki was only at the local hospital, she got home just as I was about to serve up. After tea Zack and I got out one final time, again on the tractor but with the trailer as well this time. Then it was home for bath and bed.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 87 - 18 June 2020

AM & PM
Well Zack and I haven’t stopped all day, we’ve not actually left the house today due to it not stopping raining. I did try to get him out but he wasn’t bothered too and seemed happy playing. We’ve spent a lot of the day playing in his room, we watched the rain when it absolutely bounced down and then the digger on the building site from his bedroom window. There was then a lot of bouncing on the bed, Zack wanted me to bounce too but I had to tell him I was bit too big. We came downstairs for a snack and watched a bit of tv, we then did our Rescuers Down Under re-enactment, however he was the naught man and I had to be Cody. I made his lunch before getting him to sleep for a nap. Once he woke up, we had a quiet half hour while he came round and just watch some CBeebies. Then we ran around the house, originally me chasing him but some how he ended up chasing me. He then wanted to go upstairs again so up we went, this time I made a slide of sorts using his old cot mattress and a few pillows, he loved it though he had to roll more than slide down it. We spent a good hour or so up there playing on it, even his soft toys got a go on it. He then wanted to come back downstairs, we got his cars and trucks out. Then from nowhere he started going on about his stick, I wasn’t sure what stick he meant at first but it was the one grandad made, so I got it from the car. We carried on running around, climbing and jumping on the sofa. When I came time to make tea, I put The Rescuers on for him. He wolfed his and his pudding, by the time Vikki got home he was back playing. Then it was just the usual bath and bed routine.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 86 - 17 June 2020

AM & PM
Zack and I had a lazy morning, I think he was just counting down till we could go see his Grandad and Granny as all he kept asking to do was get in the car. He’d woken early-ish today, which actually worked well as meant we could have an earlier lunch and get in the car for his nap on the way to meet them, that way if he had slightly longer it wouldn’t matter too much. We’d decided to meet roughly half way at Hollingsworth Lake, we arrived a little before them but it gave Zack chance to wake up. We walked through the car park to meet them, Zack was excited to see them and then more so once he knew the dogs (Hugo & Bertie) had come too. They also had a present for us both, a hand made (by Grandads hands) walking stick each. Both had been whittled into shape from a fallen oak tree branch, nicely varnished and finished off with name plaque. We all set of walking around the lake, Zack with his new walking stick. We hadn’t got far before noticing the signs that had been put up asking everyone to walk around in one direction, the opposite way we’d set off in. So we turned around and walk the other way, we quickly realised we seemed to be the only ones doing this as more people where walking towards us than behind us. Zack loved shouting at Grandad for walking to far ahead with the dogs and splashing in the muddy puddles. Part way around we stopped for a rest and got an ice cream from the cafe, the dogs also had a nice drink too. After we’d all finished we carried on walking, the dogs loved going down the little verges and getting in the streams and Zack loved telling them to come back and be a good boy. Zack walked well around the lake, only asking a couple of time to go on my shoulders and even when on them he didn’t last long before getting down. We got back to the car park and back to the cars, giving the dogs a drink while grandad went to get us all one and Zack shared his crisps with Bertie. We arranged to meet next week for a picnic, sad goodbye and we headed home for tea.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 85 - 16 June 2020

AM & PM
Well with a horrible looking day, we all had a bit of a lazy morning, watching CBeebies and playing. Vikki was the first to get dressed but only because Zack decided to walk around with his hand over his eyes, then fell over and spilt her coffee all over her. Not too long after we all went up, Vikki get Zack dressed while I got ready. While he was half dressed, Vikki took the opportunity to cut his nails. A task easier said then done, he’s fine with his fingers but when it comes to his toes it’s a full on wrestling match. It had stopped raining by the time we came downstairs, so we got outside for a little bit before come back for some lunch. As the weather was a bit up and down, we got in the car for his nap but also we’d ordered some fish from the fishmonger so we went to collect that. As it still seemed dry, we quickly dropped the fish off back at home and then headed up to Marbury Park for a walk. We sat in the car for a little while until it was time to wake Zack, then once he was up we set off. He was still just coming round when we’d set of, so we stopped part way around for a drink just as the heavens opened again, luckily for Zack we’d brought his waterproof but Vikki and I weren’t as lucky. Getting into the woods kept us from getting too wet and by the time we got to the really open part it had stopped again. For the final stretch back to the car, I carried Zack on my shoulders. Originally we’d planned roast chicken for tea, but with the fishmonger saying that some of it is best eaten today we decided to have the mussels and crab with some of the prawns and crusty bread. Vikki did Zack some pasta to have and we let him try some of ours. He has had a lot of it before but it’s still a bit hit and miss with him and some seafood so the pasta was a safe bet. We got out in the garden for one last little play before it was time to start the bath and bed routine.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 84 - 15 June 2020

AM & PM
Another day where the time has just flown and we haven’t done anything particularly exciting. Vikki was working but only a half day and after she’d left for work Zack and I played. He was bit of a softy, wanted to sit on my knee and watch tv and then he went to get a couple of books and again wanted to sit on me while I read them. We did get upstairs to get dressed and got out on his little car. Though as he doesn’t like to ride it on the road and there is a small section of no path but it’s too much like hard work to ride it across the grass, he carries it instead. We then just walked around the estate and got home for some lunch, left over from yesterday’s picnic. After we’d eaten I got him in the buggy for his sleep, we saw Vikki coming home as we left. Once we woke we spent the rest of the day playing in the garden and occasionally coming inside to play to get out of the sun. We all had tea together and enjoyed a little ice cream afterwards, however once he’d eaten the chocolate shell off his he wanted to swap and have Vikki’s. As it was nearer bath time he wanted to go out on his tractor, I’m sure he just wants to stall and delay going up. We did go and just did a couple of laps of the estate again, Zack steering his tractor one handed while carrying his bubble sword in the other. Once we got back I took Zack up for bath while Vikki tired up and got his milk and snack ready. Then after In the night garden and CBeebies bed time story, it was up for a couple of books and then sleep.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 83 - 14 June 2020

AM & PM
If there was ever a day to not listen to the weather forecast it was today. We’d planed to go to Tatton Park to meet Grandma and Grampy, but looking at the forecast it looked like we’d be rained off. However we all decided to risk it and lucky we did as it turned into a hot sunny day, with no sign of any rain. We meet around 11am, to have a picnic lunch and then have a walk after and Zack could have a nap in the buggy. We settled at a spot near an old fallen tree, which Zack loved to climb on especially when he saw some older children doing it. After a we’d eaten, we set of walking up towards the house and Zack was asleep in minutes. I’ve never realised how big the park is, walking from the side we’d met at to the house is good walk and harder in this heat. Part way along it was time to wake Zack up, who didn’t really want to be awake so still sat in the buggy for most of the walk. Once we got to the house, we found a bench to sit on and got an ice cream and a drink. There is obviously somethings that aren’t back open yet, like the merry go round and near that was a huge old truck from the same era as the merry go round. Zack liked going over and having a look, so much that we’d barely sat back down and he wanted to have another look. We finished our drinks and ice cream then started to make our way back the way we came, though we did do a slight detour through a wooded area and found a digger, which wasn’t being used but Zack loved all the same. The walk back was rather slow being we walked at a toddlers pace, we did get him in the buggy for a short time just so we could actually get somewhere. Not far off where we’d stopped for lunch are some deers, which we’d not stopped at before but as Zack was awake this way we stopped to have a look. We made it back to the car and said good bye to Grandma and Grampy, we’d all had a lovely day. We arrived back home for tea time and then had just enough time for a little play before bath and bed.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 82 - 13 June 2020

AM & PM
We where up and out a reasonable time today, going over to see Zack’s nana. As was sunny over there we sat out in the garden and chatted, while Zack played with his toys. It wasn’t long before the bacon and sausage sandwiches came out but it still wasn’t quick enough for Zack, who’d helped himself to a couple of sausages before everything was ready and then offered another still took two. One of the books she has for Zack, is one full of spooky stories and one picture has a few bats drawn. He became obsessed with bats and just talked none stop about them and repeated what we told him, how they sleep upside down and during the day but come out at night flying all around. Too make things even better, she found a toy bat in the garage and he played with it pretty much till we left. We headed home for his nap time, hoping he’d sleep in the car, which he did and it worked well as it meant we could wake him as we got home. The afternoon we just played at home, while doing boring jobs like getting the washing done but as it was nice outside it meant we could peg it out and it would dry pretty quickly. It was fake away curry night and even Zack had his own curry for tea, we planned to have ours once his was in bed and watch a film. Hopefully all the running, jumping and climbing around inside and out, would be enough to tire him out. Bed time wasn’t as easy as I’d hoped, he was still really hyper before getting in the bath and even when back downstairs for his snack and milk he wasn’t as calm as we’d like. But to be fair to him, he was good doing his books and was asleep not long after I’d come downstairs. Vikki and I enjoyed our curry and watched our film and also saw what seemed to come from know where but a huge downpour and thunderstorm.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 81 - 12 June 2020

AM & PM
Making the most of what looked like a nice day, I got Zack and I dressed then out the door for around 9:30am. I wasn’t totally sure of where to go, I then thought of a place near us called Neumann’s Flashes. I’ve been once before on my bike and it’s a nice walk around the lake and there are a few bird hides all around, which I though Zack might like. As we set off walking I was rather thankful for few muddy puddles, as Zack wanted to go right and we needed to go left but as the puddles where all on the way we needed to walk he quickly changed his mind. As we got to the gate in the fence, he went through first and then proceeded to hold it shut and told me to wait there. Eventually he let me through and we walked on, it probably took us a good half hour to do what’s the shortest part of the walk, this was mostly because Zack wanted to stop at every puddle along the way. We go down the first side path to the first bird hide, but it was the next one I really wanted to show him as it’s on what looks like a little pier, and I imagine it has a good view. Unfortunately it looked rather busy with serious bird watchers and knowing Zack wouldn’t be quiet I thought we’d best give it a miss this time. So we carried on walking and stopped at all the other bird hides along the way. About half way around Zack wanted to go on my shoulders, slightly reluctantly as he was covered in mud from all the puddles I said yes and he stayed up there until we got back near the car park, and that was only because he wanted to walk down the stairs. I wasn’t really sure how far we’d walked or how far he had but he was obviously tired as he was asleep by the time we’d driven home, it was a little earlier than usual but just meant he could have a longer nap. I made him some lunch for when he woke up and then we just played inside for a while. Later on we got out and on his bike, only around the estate we live on but it was the furthest he’s been on the bike. Back at home we had nice FaceTime with Grandad and Granny, before I started tea. Then just the usual bed time routine.
