Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 60 - 22 May 2020

AM & PM
IAfter breakfast, I got ready for an outdoor, social distancing PT session. After eight weeks of not really doing much can it was going to be a tough one. While I did that Vikki and Zack went to the park for a walk and feed the duck. We all arrived home at a similar time for lunch. A little surprise had also come through the post for Zack, it was a lovely set of books sent by @nat_doing_stuff now her children Noah & Eleanor had out grown. He loved them and sat for ages reading them all, he even ate his lunch while reading them. After his nap, we played inside and read some more of the books. Then after one of them, We’re going on bear hunt, Zack decided he want to go on a bear hunt. So off we all went, it was very windy and we couldn’t go over it and we couldn’t go under it so we had to go through it. We never did manage to find a bear, but we did find the ice cream van. We headed home, while battling the wind and just played inside. After tea we all just chilled and had some wind down time, ready for bath and bed.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 59 - 21 May 2020

AM & PM
It was an early sat for Zack and I, up and downstairs to have our breakfast and then we may Vikki a coffee and toast and brought it up to her in bed, for a little birthday treat. We watched while she opened her presents, after that Zack and Vikki got dressed, while I came downstairs to add the cream cheese frosting to the carrot cake I’d made the night before. They both got straight in the garden and I got dressed and joined them. It was warm but not quite warm enough for the paddling pool just yet, so to help distract Zack from it we got his new little paints out. After his nap it had definitely got hot enough for the paddling pool, so we creamed him up and got his trunks on. Later on we went for a little mooch to see if we could find the ice cream van, sadly we could only hear it. It was back home for a mini milk, but as it was so hot anything cold was refreshing. We spent most of what was left of the afternoon outside playing in and out for the pool, only coming inside for Zacks tea and wind down before bath and bed.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 58 - 20 May 2020

AM & PM
Officially the least lazy day we’ve possibly ever had. We were up, had breakfast, made a mini picnic and out the door on the bikes by 9:15am. Zack and I on my bike and Vikki had the food bag. We cycled down to the hill to the path that joins the canal, from there we went along the canal and off at the park/wooded area. Following the trail we eventually got to Marbury Park, then cycled along the route we’d walked the last couple of days. At the main area we found a bench and stopped for a drink and a little bit of lunch. Once we’d finished the plan was to go feed the ducks again but Zack didn’t want, so we just headed home, which as it had really started to get hot wasn’t a bad idea. After one hour and forty minutes and eight miles since we’d left we arrived home, slightly tired and very sweaty. It was look like a no nap day, especially since Zack just got to sit there while Vikki and I did all the cycling. So as it was rather hot, it only seemed right to get the paddling pool out. Since the lockdown rules had been relaxed, I was going to meet mum in the afternoon. Before I left, I got the pool inflated and left it too fill,as I went for a quick shower. As I came down Zack was all creamed you, in his swim shorts and already in the now full pool. I had a nice walk and catch up with my mum and from the sounds of it Zack and Vikki had fun too. Some new paints and stamps arrived in the post so along with the pool, they did a bit of arts and crafts. I got home in time for tea and an ice cream for pudding, we then had one finally play in the pool before bath and bed.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 57 - 19 May 2020

AM & PM
I did say to Vikki I wouldn’t write another post that said ‘we had a lazy morning’ but when it’s gone 10am and your still in pyjamas then what else can you call it? For the record I was showered and dressed by 9am. It wasn’t a completely without reason for having a lazy one, Zack did wake up at 5:30 and did shout us for a bit before giving up and getting some toys to play with, but it still resulted in us all being up by 6:30. He played nicely and once they’d both gotten dressed we got out in the garden, hung some washing out and had some lunch. We needed a few essentials so for his nap we got in the car and drove around till he fell asleep, we then nipped to the shop and then headed to the park we went to yesterday. We had another lovely wall going a slightly different way to get to the lake. It’s both surprising and bad that in the number of times we’ve been to the park, that we’ve never been or found these routes you can walk. When we reached the lake, we got the bread to feed the ducks again, however Zack decided he’d rather eat it himself than give the ducks it. Luckily it was fresh bread and not the stale, mouldy bread we used yesterday.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 56 - 18 May 2020

AM & PM
After breakfast Vikki went for a run, the start of level 5 of the couch to 5K. Zack and I just played and once Vikki got back we all went up to shower and get dressed for the day. We then just played in the garden, Zack found a snail that he wanted to keep in the his red bucket as a pet. While we got lunch ready he got on his bike for the first time in a while, he’ll ride it in the house but doesn’t like to take it outside. Once we’d eaten, Vikki took Zack in the buggy for his nap while I waited for the DHL man to deliver a parcel ready for her birthday on Thursday. After he’d woken up we got sorted and went to Marbury Country Park near us for a good walk and feed the ducks. We walked a slightly longer route to the lake, passing the cows to which Zack had a good look at and sang Old McDonald to them. The path then took us through the woods and eventually out at the lake. Zack and I started to throw our bread in and it wasn’t long before a could of swans started to head over. As the got closer we could see that one of them had the cygnets (baby swans) on their back. They had all our bread and we carried on our walk, we saw the big tractor again and then headed back to the car to get home for tea.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 55 - 17 May 2020

AM & PM
The downside to having a lie in, is the knock on effect. No nap that day means an earlier bath and bed but that just mean the wake up is earlier. Like today 6am, and he’s still not quite sussed out that it’s ok to play in his room when he wakes up. But anyway, after we’d had breakfast and Vikki left for work, we got dressed and came down to play with the duplo. I’m not exactly sure what this pose was all about but I think he was impressed by the big Grandad Dog (A Peppa Pig character) break down truck he’d built. While he carried on playing I hung the washing out, then the next thing I noticed he was off out of the gate. I followed after him and before I knew it we were at the field running around. The afternoon we spent in the garden playing with pirate ship and football. Knowing I needed to tire him out we got his red bike and went to the ramp (our neighbours driveway) and raced up and down it, it’s great as he insisted on walking up himself then then wizzing down. It seemed to work as he went to bed pretty well.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 54 - 16 May 2020

AM & PM
We had a bit of a fun start to the morning, with the temptation challenge. We set the camera up and put a Freddo in front of Zack and told him not to touch it until we came back. He failed, in his own words, he just had a little taste. We went to get ready and head out for a walk, at the same time we changed Zacks bedding over. He was very pleased with his dinosaur bedding, even getting in to try it out. We got out for the walk, taking the buggy just incase zack got tired and wanted a sleep. He didn’t and we didn’t really walk, Zack wanted to run and me chase him. Later on after all the running we got out in the garden, I’d finally got him some more playing sand so we got that out. But he didn’t want it in the pirate ship, only in the lid of the toy box. But so long has he’s happy, we’re all happy.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 53 - 15 May 2020

AM & PM
Well a super lazy morning, mostly from Zack but I was happy to follow suit, however I unlike Zack did get dressed. We mostly lounged around, playing with the cars on the track while dipping in and out of Peppa Pig. I was slightly surprised that he still wanted a nap but he did and in his own bed, which is unusual in its self as most of the time it’s a walk in the buggy. When it came to waking him up, I took the opportunity to get him dressed while he was still half asleep, it’s much less of a fight and wrestling match that way. We got out in the garden, playing with his digger, truck and pebbles. We also took the tractor for a spin and had a walk to the shop for batteries, for a couple of toys I’ve so far managed to avoid replacing. We then played inside some more, this time with the dulpo.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 52 - 14 May 2020

AM & PM
Bit of a lazy morning, Zack didn’t wake till around 730 so that meant a lie in for us all. I think he’d have been lazy all morning if we’d have let him, but we did all get dressed and walked down to the shop. While Vikki went in Zack and I walked over to the building site to see if we could see any diggers now they’d started up working again. Sadly we didn’t, but we did see a big lorry and a van. After we got home and had some lunch, I put the shelves up in Zacks room while Zack and Vikki played. Once I’d done I went to find them and we ended up walking down to the field and having a good run around. On the way down, Zack practiced his balancing on the broken part of the train track as he calls it. It was another no nap day and by the time we’d finished at the park it had started to catch up with him so he went on my shoulders for the wall home.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 51 - 13 May 2020

AM & PM
It was the first nice day in the last few, warmer, sunny and less windy. It was also the first day of the slight ease of the lockdown. Meaning we can go out as much as we want and where we want. I didn’t plan to go far, only to the nice country park a 5 minute drive from us, but I thought it would make a nice change of scenery. The plan was to have a couple of hours and lunch there, then drive back from his nap time. This didn’t happen, Zack didn’t want to get dressed and once I’d help build the track all he wanted to play with his cars on it and watch Peppa Pig. It started to get to the point where nap time would be too late and he’d have to go without, so I gave it one last try to get him dressed and out. I’m not sure what exactly I said but it worked, he got dressed, we got in the car and he fell asleep. I drove us to the park and just sat in the car until it I needed to wake him. Once he was awake he loved being there, we had a good walk all around and down by the lake, saw the ducks, geese and swans. We found lots sticks and had a good run in the woods. I think the highlight for him was the tractor, I think it would have only been topped if the gate had been open and he could get a closer look.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 50 - 12 May 2020

AM & PM
It didn’t look too bad first thing but it soon changed as Vikki found out, just as she left for her run the heavens opened. Later on we walked up to the shop to get a few bit for Vikki and Zack to make banana bread. Zack’s quite good with the roads already, if he sees a car on our street he always stands to the still and to the side. As we walked up the main road and got to the crossed we tried to explain that when the red man in on you stand and wait then once it goes green you can go. After a sleep and some lunch, Vikki and Zack made the banana bread and while it baked in the oven went off to the field. I’d waited for his shelves for his room to be delivered and to take the bread out if they didn’t get back in time. It wasn’t long that I got summoned to bring a ball and drink down to the field. Thirsty walk all that baking and playing.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 49 - 11 May 2020

AM & PM
Although it looked again a cold windy day, Zack and I did venture outside. I did try to get him to put a coat or jacket on but I should have really leant by now that you always lose when trying to reason with a toddler. He did however want to put his gloves on, which are great gloves both warm and waterproof but do make him look like he should be working on a sea trawler not driving his car. We soon came back in when a slight gust of wind blow and he started shouting he was cold, though it was cold you’d think by his reaction that I had just thrown icy water over him. We spent the rest of the morning and much of the day really just playing inside, we did a bit of arts and crafts but mostly played with cars and his race track. In the later part of the afternoon I managed to wrap him up and we got out for a walk and headed to the shop. He wanted to be like his dad and bring his camera, he just needs to remember that just because I take his picture he doesn’t need to take that many selfies.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 48 - 10 May 2020

AM & PM
I’d like to say it was just a lazy morning but it’s actually been a lazy day. Some of the lazy morning was due to a bit of a bad night, I had to get up to Zack as he’d nearly rolled out of the bed and Vikki went in a couple of times too. That being said, he’s done really well in the big room, with us only having to go into him a handful of times in the few weeks he’s been in it. However even with that in the night it was still nearly 8 before we actually got up. The other reason for the lazy morning and day, was the miserable weather, cold, windy and the permanent look of rain. When we did eventually go up to get dressed, Zack decided he wanted to try on all Vikki’s necklaces and then got all cozy in our bed. Once we were finally all dressed we did venture outside for a short time before Zack got a bit cold and wanted to come in. The rest of a the day we just playing inside, building an epic track and racing his cars, tractors and trains on. Because of the funny night and the later get up, it was almost a no nap day, however at nearly 4pm and him being an absolute whinge bag he decided he want a nap. So we let him have quick power nap, just to get him through tea actually eating something. It also helped to keep bath time as the usual time and hopefully keep the week on track for bath, bed and wake up times.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 47 - 09 May 2020

AM & PM
There must have been a few sore heads on our street today as it was a very quiet Saturday morning. We got dressed and got outside while Vikki went for a run and then once she got back they played, while I went through and sent to the street WhatsApp group a selection of the pictures I took. It was such a scorcher of a day, that we decided to get the paddling pool out, to help cool us down. Zack was rather excited about this but he needed a nap first, so in the buggy and off we went for a little walk. Once we got back it was time to blow up, fill and get in the pool. This is how we spent the rest of the day, it was a BBQ tea, which even if I do say so was delicious and perfectly cooked. Finished off (once Zack’s in bed) with a cuppa and scone and cream.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 46 - 08 May 2020

AM & PM
It was a slightly earlier start to the day today, but that wasn’t much of a surprise. Even though yesterday Zack made it to his usual bath time, it was a quick one and he was asleep a lot quicker than normal. It’s been a busy day, not long after breakfast we got cracking with the scone making for VE Day and our social distancing street party in the afternoon. We also squeezed in a short walk and then a little later on had a slightly longer one to the shop while Zack slept in the buggy. We got the bunting hung up and not long after he woke up it was time to get the food ready for the party. Sandwiches, crisps, scones with jam and cream, strawberries and cake. Along with a few beers and fizz. Once it all for going it was a great afternoon and good turn out, with singing, dancing, bingo and plenty of laughs.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 45 - 07 May 2020

AM & PM
It was another fun filled day for us. After a good play inside, we got outside, had walk and good run around. It was almost time for lunch by the time we got back. Zack said he wanted a chocolate spread sandwich, I couldn’t be bothered with the argument so that’s what he had, followed by half a mango. He’d definitely had his sugar fix, which might explain why he didn’t have a sleep today. The afternoon was much like the morning, after playing inside we got out and took Zacks tractor for a spin around the block. We came back to get the football but as soon as we got back to the garden Zack decided he needed to go to the shop. So with his stick in hand off he went, I was meant to stay in the garden but after some gentle persuasion about the road and cars I could come along. When we got to the foot path I had to stay at the top of the hill while he went on his way. With the no sleep we thought it would be an early bath and bed, but some how he kept going. Hopefully it won’t effect the night sleep and we’ll have a morning we’re becoming a custom too.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 44 - 06 May 2020

AM & PM
Once Vikki had left for work, Zack and I got dressed and went out for a walk. Soon as we got home it was straight out into the garden, Zack with his tractor went and tended to crops of grass seed, watering them with his bucket. After a hard mornings work it was time for a bit of lunch and a siesta. The afternoon was a little more relaxed, we had time for a kick around and another little walk before returning to the garden. We watered the sunflower and the grass seed again. As the day began to come to an end there was just enough time to sit, reflect on a good days work and watch the sun start to set.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 43 - 05 May 2020

AM & PM
Not a bad start to the day, a 7:15 get up and downstairs for a nice bowl of porridge. Vikki got ready for a run, while she was out, Zack and I got dressed and played. The rest of the morning once Vikki got back and showered, was a mummy and Zack morning while I had a few things to sort out. They played in the garden and he loved his new dinosaur trainers, that we ordered. He’s out grown his others and with shops shut he’s mostly in his wellies but it’s getting a bit too hot now for him to keep wearing those as much as he likes them. By the time he’d had his sleep, I was done and the rest of the day would be the three of us. We set off on a walk to the big playing fields at the back of our house. It’s not that fair really but for Zack I think it was probably a little further than he’s able to walk. We made it with only a couple of times carrying Zack, we had a good run around and played with the football. On the way Zack only made it short way and then he got on my shoulders for the rest of the walk back.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 42 - 04 May 2020

AM & PM
Well it’s been one of those days, you’d think he was a moody teenager not a toddler. Didn’t want to do anything other that watch tv and eat. I dragged him outside for a bit of fresh air mid morning but it didn’t last long. We did get in the buggy for his sleep so I at least got a walk. The afternoon was a bit the same to start with but again I dragged him outside and this time he seemed to enjoy it and we went off on an explore. We did spend a good while circling the fence by the playground trying to figure a way to get that stick that’s been out of reach for the whole of the lockdown. We didn’t manage it and not for the first time no other stick would do.

Lockdown - COVID 19 | Day 41 - 03 May 2020

AM & PM
I spoke too soon about the lie in, if it wasn’t for Vikki’s alarm going off for work this morning not sure what time we’d have woken up. Zack and I had a lazy morning just inside, reading the morning paper and playing. We did arts and crafts, playdoh, cooking and played with the tractors. It was only a half day for Vikki so once she got back we all headed out for a walk. We decided to go somewhere different today and headed down and along the canal, see if we could spot any ducks. We had a Sunday dinner with a twist today, an Indian spiced roast. Tandoori Chicken, Bombay roast potato’s and spicy veg. It was absolutely delicious, especially the spuds.
